Located 25 miles outside of the Mile High City’s main downtown, Denver International Airport (DEN) is one of the top five busiest airports in the United States. A hub for travelers to the western part of the country as well as Pacific Ocean destinations, DEN is a modern airport with all the amenities one would expect.
As DEN is located a good distance from Denver itself, travelers often choose to drive and park their vehicle onsite. Alternatively, there are public buses that run to the airport as well as taxi cab services and/or rideshare and private car service options, including Dav El | BostonCoach and its fleet of vehicles. Full parking and transport details may be found here.
While a large airport with multiple concourses, DEN is still very walkable, especially to Concourse A via the passenger walkway bridge (and the exercise could be a good way to stretch the legs between flights!). There are also passenger trains that depart from the main Jeppesen Terminal to each of the three concourses, of which the trip takes less than ten minutes – located further away, Concourses B and C may only be reached via train.
While at DEN, there are a variety of ways to relax and rejuvenate before your flight and during a layover. WiFi is free throughout the airport, there are nursing rooms for mothers, plenty of dining and shopping options, and most uniquely, a Canine Airport Therapy Squad (CATS). The CATS program provides comfort and support to travelers each day. Pets and their owners are assigned timeframes of two hours to stroll the airport visiting airline passengers.
In 2013 DEN was named “Best U.S. Airport for Art” in USA Today’s “10 Best Reader’s Choice” travel contest” Beautiful art exhibits are rotated throughout the terminals to give travelers a view into local artists work.
Because DEN is a major hub and a busy airport, it is suggested that you arrive at least two hours before any/all domestic flights and at least three hours prior to international ones. There are three security checkpoints across the airport, one of which is open 24 hours a day.
Remember that departing from DEN or heading into Denver itself is a challenge, due to the lack of a rail system to and from the airport. Plan ahead and book a safe, secure, and on-time trip with ground transportation with Dav El | BostonCoach and your trip will begin (or end!) easily and comfortably.
