State lawmakers are considering a bill that would require Rideshare drivers to undergo fingerprinting to verify that their drivers have no criminal history. Currently, Rideshare drivers are not required to go through fingerprinting during their background checks.
Solombrino stated, “Our issue in Massachusetts is that, a year and a half ago, we passed legislation that changed the whole ridesharing way that they could hire people here. On the day the law passed, they had to fire 9,800 drivers because they couldn’t pass the backgrounds, even though they claimed to have them.”
Fingerprinting eliminates any type of identity issues and leaves out the risk of drivers claiming to be someone they aren’t. Listen below to hear the rest of the interview.
